On 12/26 after I finished work we drove to Pennsylvania. The ride down went really well. Duncan, Squeakers and Karis were all good in the car. We listened to my CD collection of Christmas short stories by David Sedaris. I love the Santa Land Diaries. We got into PA around 11. John and Abby were still up, and visited with Karis for a few minutes before we all went to bed. BJ, Karis, and I were up and back in the car by 4:30 to get to the airport. Unfortunately, our flight had been cancelled, which was very surprising to us. Apparently there had been fog in Chicago the night before, and our plane never came in the night before. Disappointed was an understatement because my mom had planned a party later that afternoon. We were able to get on a flight out of Newark, and decided to go back to John and Abby's for the morning. We were able to catch a couple more hours of sleep. John and Abby were surprised to see us in the morning! The positive thing about the delay was spending time with our neice and nephews. We got to watch them open the presents we got for them.
We finally got to Chicago Saturday night. The flight was really rough. On the decent the flight attendants didn't even check our trays and seats. I had to hold Karis tightly. She was such a good girl for the flight. My parents had to call everyone and reschedule the party for Sunday. Almost everyone was able to make the change. It was really good to see everyone and show off Karis. We spent most of the visit just hanging out at the house. BJ got a once in a lifetime opportunity to get a private tour of Fermi Lab. He had a wonderful time during his tour. I had a really good time, and was sad to leave.
We had a better flight back to PA. There was a lot of turbulance as we landed. Once again, Karis was a great traveler. We ended up going out to dinner with John, Abby, Bryan, Nicole, and Hayden. After dinner BJ and I took Karis to visit Bill, Tracey and Cheyanne. We had a nice visit, and they gave us a bunch of pictures of BJ as a baby. Its funny Karis looks like him in several pictures, but when we were looking at my babybook when we were in Illinois she also looked like me in a lot of my pictures. I guess she just looks like herself.
